MODEL HISTORY

Introduced in 1956 as a replacement to the Austin-Healey 100, and produced between 1956 and 1959, the Austin-Healey 100/6 is the quintessential example of a proper British two-seater sports car.

The 100/6 enjoyed a longer wheelbase (by 50.8mm) than its predecessor, as well as the addition of a beautifully sonorous and more powerful straight-six. Upgraded from 102bhp to 117bhp as standard in 1957, this model features the more powerful engine as the base to which tasteful and sensible modifications have been added, increasing the power even further.

Visually, the 100/6 is more streamlined than the 100, with a smaller, wider radiator grille placed lower on the car. It also features the addition of a hood scoop and a fixed windscreen.

This is a stunning example of one of the best sportscars ever to come out of Britain. Originally supplied to the US as a BN4 in April 1957, this lovely little matching numbers coupe features a Heritage Certificate. It also benefits from a ground-up restoration just 7000 miles ago, by Cape International between 2005 and 2007, at a cost in excess of £100k. The photographic record of the work done on this car shows the thoroughness of the 2-year programme. Many new panels have been fitted, with sensible improvements to the suspension and engine. In addition, the car has fully rebuilt mechanicals, and all new plumbing and wiring. This example is prepared for light rallying and finished 2nd at “Three Castles”.

EXTERIOR

Finished in Colorado Red this example features a genuine with a genuine works hard top that beautifully contrasts the bodywork. With the addition of several tasteful modifications that pay homage to the rally cars, such as side exhaust, spotlights, and an aluminium grille, this stunning 100/6 is certainly an eye-catcher.

INTERIOR

Finished in black with a red dashboard, there is fantastic attention to detail on the interior with very comfortable reclining sports seats.
